Philippines, located in Southeastern Asia, is officially known as the Republic of the Philippines and it is an island nation. It is an archipelago with 7107 islands. It is the 12th most populous nation in the world. Agriculture highly contributes towards the economy of Philippines. The country has rich deposits of mineral resources. Gold, nickel, copper and chromite are in the midst of world's largest deposits. Other mineral resources found in the country are silver, coal, gypsum and sulfur. Main industries of Philippines are electronics assembly, garments, footwear, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, wood products, food processing, petroleum refining and fishing.
